The old firmware needs this redundant flag, it is best cleaned up after the
firmware version is released.

users must upgrade their kernel/FW at the same time?

Yes, it looks like we should make sure that the use new driver only works with the new firmware.

Maybe keeping the setting is an easier way even if the new firmware removes redundant processing :(
