However this is useful for linux-v5.15 since commit 269fbe72cded ("mm/mempolicy: use unified 'nodes' for bind/interleave/prefer policies") already unify bind/prefer policies. While this patch does not exists during backport. To fix this, drop checking v.nodes for prefer. hulk inclusion category: performance bugzilla: https://gitee.com/openeuler/kernel/issues/I8MV01 -------------------------------- Using the UnixBench test suite, we clearly find that osq_lock() cause extremely high overheads with perf tool in the File Copy items: Overhead Shared Object Symbol 94.25% [kernel] [k] osq_lock 0.74% [kernel] [k] rwsem_spin_on_owner 0.32% [kernel] [k] filemap_get_read_batch In response to this, we conducted an analysis and made some gains: In the prologue of osq_lock(), it set `cpu` member of percpu struct optimistic_spin_node with the local cpu id, after that the value of the percpu struct would never change in fact. Based on that, we can regard the `cpu` member as a constant variable. In the meanwhile, other members of the percpu struct like next, prev and locked are frequently modified by osq_lock() and osq_unlock() which are called by rwsem, mutex and so on. However, that would invalidate the cache of the cpu member on other CPUs. Therefore, we can place padding here and split them into different cache lines to avoid cache misses when the next CPU is spinning to check other node's cpu member by vcpu_is_preempted(). Consequently, we can regard the `cpu` member as a constant variable. In the meanwhile, other members like next, prev and locked are frequently modified by osq_lock() and osq_unlock() which come from rwsem, mutex and so on. So here we can place padding and split them into different cache lines, so that avoid cache misses when a cpu is spinning to check previous node's cpu field by vcpu_is_preempted() in the following. Userswap feature depends on CONFIG_USERSWAP and can be enabled by cmdline enable_userswap. When dev->irq[0] is zero, try to get IRQ by of_irq_get() again, and return -EPROBE_DEFER if the IRQ domain is not yet created. Using deferred probing mechanism to fix the issue. This will cause the device trigger fake pagefaults. If the SMMU works in terminate mode, transactions which occur fake pagefaults will be aborted, and could result in unexpected errors. To fix this problem, we need to add a SYNC command after smmu has map a iova, then smmu will always try to get the newest PTE. For example, all test items of libMicro can be improved by 4.89% on average. Since commit dbece8b041f3 ("arm64: rename COMPAT to AARCH32_EL0"), CONFIG_COMPAT has been renamed to CONFIG_AARCH32_EL0, so open CONFIG_AARCH32_EL0 as what CONFIG_COMPAT used to be. And as commit 880fd21c0a46 ("arm64: set 32-bit compatible TASK_SIZE_MAX to fix U32 libc_write_01 error") said, not set CONFIG_COMPAT_TASK_SIZE by default.
